Christmas is one of the most exciting holidays of the year. Christmas is a celebration of Jesus Christ's birthday. He is our Lord and Saviour. Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December with a Christmas dinner for the whole family. A traditional dinner includes roast turkey, brussels sproutes, roast potatoes and cranberry sauce. For dessert people eat a fruity pudding. A Christmas cracker is placed next to each plate. The cracker is a coloured paper tube twisted at both ends. It contents a paper crown, gift or a joke.
Before Christmas people send cards, decorate their homes and watch nativity plays. Also they sing Christmas carols. Red and green are the traditional colors of Christmas.
The traditional tree of Christmas is a fir-tree, but now-a-days people buy artificial trees to save the earth. The trees are decorated with candles, ribbons, colored electric lights, sweets, tinsel,chocolate coins, stars, angels and baubles.
On Christmas Eve children leave mince pies and brandy for Santa and the carrot for the reindeer. They also hang stockings for presents ,which Santa put inside. Santa is an old man dressed in red. He has white hair, a beard and a moustache. He likes to give presents to children if they behave good. On Christmas he put a lot of toys on his sleigh and rides across the sky with his reindeers. Rudolph is the most famous deer. He is a leader. He has a red nose. Santa enters houses down the chimney and places gifts in stockings by children's beds.
