Rending can even improve life.
However some of young
people find it boring and a hard work.
The four most popular genres are fantasy fiction, adventure, humour, horror/
thriller books.
Biographies / autobiographies are more popular than sports books.
Realistic teenage fiction less popular with teens than detective novels.
The least enjoyable books are cook books.
The survey shows that books help young people to understand different people
and cultures.
Less than a half young people say that books encourage them to learn new
subjects and to try new hobbies.
Two in five say that books encourage them to use their imagination.
A third say that books improve their vocabulary and writing skills.
Around a third say that books help them to decide the type of person they want
to be.
However some young people say that books are not important to them.
