Rescue teams were sent to the city by many countries such as the UK, Gernany,
Russia and Japan.
They still hope that survivors will be found.
As the medical and rescue workers arrived, they were surrounded by queues of injured
people.
Their journey to the disaster zone had been hampered by difficult travelling
conditions.

On the first day, snake-eye cameras, hi-tech listening devices and carbon
dioxide detectors were used by the team to locate survivors.
