In Russia children go to school at the age of 6 or 7 years old. They study at school for eleven years.School education is divided into two stages: primary (four years) and secondary (seven years).
School begins on the 1st of September.
There are a lot of different subjects on the timetable: Mathematics, Russian, History, Geography, Biology, Litearature, foreign Languages, Music, Art, Physical Education and others.
Boys and girls are taught together in Russian schools. Many schools have uniforms.
All school leavers have to pass the State Exam.
Schoolchildren have three holidays during the school year: in autumn, winter and spring. The longest holidays are summer holidays.
