Some people think that beauty comes from the covers of glossy magazines, others are certain that beauty lies inside one’s actions. I myself am one of those people who find beauty nearly in everything.
It’s not easy to give a clear definition of the word “beauty”. It’s a wide notion which is based on what the viewer feels on a conscious and base-instinct level. For example, when I see red roses I say they’re beautiful. The same applies to cute little puppies, kittens, nice architecture, natural wonders, stormy sea, etc. Beauty basically lies in the core of these creatures and objects. At the same time we often notice when women or men are physically attractive. In this case we say: “she is beautiful” or “he is handsome”.
Scientists state that most of what we consider to be beautiful has genetic or environmental base. The notion of physical beauty has changed through the centuries. There were times when plump women were regarded to be attractive. Our century is the era of skinny models, which is why many plump women feel uncomfortable. They start following various diets, doing lots of exercises simply to lose weight.
In my opinion, physical beauty is deceptive. Inner beauty is much more important. Last year I made friends with one girl who has ordinary appearance. However, when she speaks up or demonstrates her personal traits, it becomes clear how beautiful she is.
In conclusion I’d like to add that beauty is a matter of opinion and it doesn’t always take attractiveness.
