It was Friday evening. The weather was awful because it was rainy
and windy outside. Unfortunately, such weather is normal for England at late
autumn. Every day, from week to week you can't see anything further than 1
meter from you because of the fog. Only fog...that covers everything and
makes it grey, cloudy and damp. The ideal weather for sitting at
home near fireplace with hot tea and interesting book. So I decided
to close the office a little bit earlier, as I wanted to have time
for visiting Mary's bakery. But while I was closing the main entrance door
I was stopped by crying woman. She appeared from fog, without umbrella
or raincoat, her eyes were red and wet from tears, she took my
hand, felt down on her knees, and wailed... I froze for a second, as
I haven't expected such behavior, but next moment I ordered her to stop it
immediately, helped her to stand up, and invited to take a seat at the
office. Few minutes later after getting calm she explained me that her
daughters have disappeared 2 days ago.
-"Constable,
please, help me to find my girls!"-Tears appeared again
-"Mam,
stop crying, take a deep breath and tell me everything in details.
Describe them, please. Were they alone? If they weren't, describe
other persons too. When you have seen them last time? What they were going
to do? And so on..."
It
took her less than a minute to take a deep breath, take a sip of water and
start narration.
"I have two daughters Gwen and Anny they are 12 years old and they are
twins. Our neighbors have two boys Ben and Danny they are 13 years old and they
are twins too. They are friends since they were born. They do everything only
together. They visit one school and study at 5th form. Gwen and Ben were born
earlier for two minutes so they are considered to be elder brother and sister.
Ben is a football fan and he plays in school football team and Gwen is the
leader of cheerleaders. But except sports they like to play intellectual games
such as Scrabble, chess, backgammon, draughts etc. They even take part in some
competitions. Anny and Danny are very artistic persons. Anny visits sewing courses and she is a rather famous designer of
dresses for Barbie. Danny is dreaming to become a Steven Spielberg #2 that's
why he is the leader of cinema lovers society. His hobby is writing poems. Each
new he sends Anny in sms, so she can tell her opinion. But...their main hobby
is reading books. Every free minute they spend reading.
My girls look same. They have blue eyes and long
blond hairs. And boys are tanned and dark haired, but their eyes also blue. You
know, they are so beautiful and attractive that I afraid of them to became
victims of kidnappers..." - after last words she began crying again.
Suddenly,
the phone rang. It was so loud that I took it immediately.... The call
was from sea patrol. Officer told me that they found 4 teenagers that were
blocked in the cave because of storm
surge. After his description I realized that it is Ben, Gwen, Danny and Anny.
