On the eve of Christmas, a young family - Della and Jim Dillingham - realize that their money is in short supply, they are already missing gifts for each other. To make her beloved pleasant, Della decides to sell her beautiful curls (which she herself considered a treasure and very proud of them). On the proceeds, she buys her husband a platinum chain for his gold watch (the second main treasure of the family). By evening, Jim returns home with a small bundle. The young couple show each other their things, and it turns out that for the sake of his wife, Jim sold the watch, and for the money received for the dome, a charming set of combs, so that Della could take care of her hair with dignity. However, this oversight does not spoil the holiday for two lovers.
