Ellen MacArthur
At the age of 24, Briton Ellen MacArthur became a celebrity. In 2001, she went on a solo circumnavigation as part of the Vendée Globe sailing race. And the second came. Three years later, she again went on a round-the-world race and set a world record.
In 2005, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire, in 2008 - the French Order of the Legion of Honor.
Having achieved success in the open sea, the yachtsman left sailing and went on another long journey. In 2010, she founded the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, whose goal is to accelerate the transition from a linear system to a closed cycle economy
