Elbrus (karach.-Bulk. Mingi Taw, office. Oshkhamakho) - stratovolcano in the Caucasus (5642 meters above sea level) - the highest mountain in Russia and Europe (during the border between Europe and Asia along the Main Caucasus Range and south), a member of the a list of the highest peaks of the planet's "Seven Summits". The meltwater of glaciers flowing down from its slopes, feeds the largest rivers of the Caucasus and Stavropol Territory: Kuban, Malka and Baksan. Due to the well-developed transport and related infrastructure Elbrus and surrounding areas are very popular in recreation, sports, tourism and mountaineering terms. On the saddle of Elbrus (5416 m), separating its eastern (5621 m) and Western (5642m) peaks, it is the highest mountain refuge in Europe.
