Every time I
host a Christmas dinner, I set a holiday table. To set a table means to properly
place dishes, flatware, and drinkware. I usually place dinner plates approximately five centimetres from the table’s edge and
centre them squarely in front of each chair.I put the soup bowls on top of the
dinner plates. The salad plates go above the forks to the left side of the
dinner plate. I put the bread plates slightly above the salad plate closer
to the dessert fork. Flatware should be laid out in the order that
guests will use it. Forks belong on the left of the dinner plate. Knives and
spoons go to the right. I always place water glasses above the dinner knife. The red and
white wine glasses or champagne flutes have to be staggered around the water
glass. I know that the napkins go to the left of the plate, so I sometimes put
them inside a drinking glass, or in the centre of the plate. So, as you can
see, a great table setting enhances the festive atmosphere. Enjoy your meal.:)
