In ancient times, the family centre was the hearth. Cicero called the Romans to protect the most sacred hearths, altars and graves of their ancestors. Then the family center was the table at which he was going native after a busy day. There they not only ate, but read the Holy Scripture. Now this place was taken by TV. But he never connects, and separates family members. Each enchanted blue screen. People do not communicate with each other. Television invaded our lives, in fact deprived us of the houses and turned them into theatres where people spend hours at the scene. The performances are without intermission, without a choice of plays, information flows from screen continuous uncontrolled flow. We, without noticing, became slaves of TV. On its failure, we often react rather than to the illness of a loved one. Television created a new kind of man, a man with the exhausted from the ceaseless sight, as from lifelong alcoholism, the nervous system, a person in a state of mental collapse that can't set boundaries and filter external information and assimilate it, so to speak, in its raw form — uncritically, on the lower level, a mechanical memory. Semantic memory has dulled, weakened creative power, man has become the slave of things, the mechanism of slave turned master. TV relaxes the human intellect. The mind needs to practice, to seek, to overcome obstacles, just as the athlete trains his muscles. TV gives abundant refined, easily digested food, from which the mind becomes sluggish, weak, incapable of independent thinking. Already the ancient philosophers said: "Man is what he eats", is referring to is not physical, but spiritual food: reading what, with whom to aspire to. The TV offers the same food to tens of millions of people. Therefore, they become similar to each other, not like in the unity of spiritual love, and in unity of monotony, gradually lose interest to each other. TV is hypnotic. The flow of images, vivid and intense in passion, also visual and auditory, enslave the mind, the consciousness is inhibited, the person turns into the medium of television, perceiving his suggestion. For several hours he receives so many impressions, many before the month. Nervous system wears out, unable to endure excessive tension, it is as if defending himself, "leaves" in the disease: possibilities of the human psyche is not unlimited. At the screen people learn violence. This applies not only to "colorful" pictures of the killings and violence, often surrounded by a certain "heroic" atmosphere. It's about more terrible: the experiences of the person watching TV is so sharp and intense, so emotionally devastate him that in everyday life he becomes indifferent to everything, cold and aloof. Any sight requires empathy, we are involved in the field of the passions, this field induces and energizes our passions. But in every cognition there is an element of sympathy, of community. And kind of sin, becoming familiar, ceases to be disgusting. TV is the enemy with whom we cannot negotiate — his aggression has no measure and limit. If the Sahara desert is expanding at the speed of five kilometers per year, then the TV is marching across the planet, drying out the latest sources and springs of living life, polluting, trampling the last oases of spirituality. Soon the person will not have to visit friends, go to conferences, to schools and institutions to practice, all this can be done, driving television, staying in your own home. People are in a world alone — as in the wilderness, dead and cold to all, and to all alien.
