A New Year is a very popular holiday in Russia. It is a family holiday. All family gathers together. They decorate a New Year tree. They cook different dishes as salad "Olivje", fried meat and boiled potato. They give presents each other. All people are happy. They hope that the next year will be the happiest. After 12th o'clock all people go out. They celebrate each other. They sing and dance. I like this holiday very much and look forward to it.

With lots of delicious food and friendly conversations. The New Year traditions may be different in different countries. It depends. But the very important part wating for the midnight is In common. In Russia million people start shouting and wishing a happy New Year to everyone right after the last chimes bell blows. We have an old tradition for that special moment. People believe that u have to write your best sincere dream on a small piece of paper and burn it. While the chimes bell blows u have to put a paper into a wine glass with any liquid and drink it fast. If you were able to do it before last blow your dream will come true next year.
