I have always been fond of foreign languages and since English is the most widespread language in the world I make every effort to master it. Of course, it’s not the only reason why I like studying it. In my opinion, it’s a very melodic and interesting language. I like the sound of words in English, their pronunciation and the structures of speech. Sometimes there are sentences which can be expressed in English easier and clearer than in my native language. Other than that, almost all fields of science and technology nowadays use the English language. Since I’m planning to become an IT specialist, I definitely need to know this language well. It is not difficult for me understand grammar, spelling and vocabulary of English, but it is rather difficult to use the speech patterns in real life communication. I’m not the only student in the class who thinks this way. For that reason, our teacher of English is planning to arrange an educational exchange among our school and one school in England. In my opinion, it’s a wonderful idea, as we’ll have lots of speaking practice. Undoubtedly, I’m going to participate in this exchange program, as I really want to meet people from England. First of all, I’ll have a chance to improve my speaking skills. Secondly, I’ll get to know more about English culture. My teacher says that it is very important to know the customs and traditions of the language you learn. I believe she is right. Fortunately, our exchange will take place at the end of December, so we’ll get the chance to celebrate English Christmas.
